White Rhino vs Triceratops Size

The white rhino is the largest of five rhino species and the second largest land animal after the elephant. They have a large head and body with a very short neck.

They can weigh a whooping 2300 – 3600 kg (5000 – 8000 lb), which is more than the average weight of a car. They can grow to be 3.7 – 4 m (12 – 13 ft). They stand at a shoulder height of 1.7 – 1.86 m (5.5 – 6.1 ft).

But if you thought white rhinos were big, the triceratops completely dwarfs it as estimates suggest they weighed 6600 – 9000 kg (14550 – 19,840 lb). Their body length of 8 – 9 m (26 – 30 ft), and they were as tall as 2.3 – 3 m (7.5 – 9.8 ft).

The triceratops wins on size as it was more than twice the size of the white rhino.

White Rhino vs Triceratops Speed

Even though the white rhino appears big and bulky, they can move remarkably fast for their size at speeds of 25 – 30 mph (40 -48 kph). It is thought that a triceratops could reach a top speed of 20 mph (32 kph) but probably couldn’t keep that speed up for long.

The white rhino wins on speed.

The white rhino has two horns, one behind the other, with the first horn being the longest with an average length of 60 cm (24 in). The females have a bigger front horn reaching 1.5 m (4.9 ft).

Rhino’s horns are made of keratin, the same material our hair and nails are made of. Rhinos can use their strong neck muscles and horns to lift up or flip over predators. They have enough power to flip over cars.

The triceratops had three face horns, a smaller one above the nostrils and the other two long brow horns above the eyes at least 1 m (3.2 ft) long.

Triceratop’s horns were made of solid bone and attached to the skull, protruding straight out, making them perfect for goring predators.

Both male white rhinos and triceratops would use their horns to fight rival males and charge oncoming predators.

The triceratops would beat the rhino in attacking strength as it is bigger and has more robust horns made of bone.

White Rhino vs Triceratops Defence

An adult rhino’s sheer size makes it immune from practically all predators’ attacks. Only a hungry pride of lions would think about preying on a lone rhino.

A triceratops would have also used its size to deter predators. Only large carnivores like the t-rex would consider taking on adult triceratops. They also had a head frill made of bone that may have been used to protect their neck in battle.

Both of them would have used their horns for defence against predators.

The triceratops has a better defence than a rhino for combat.

A triceratops would easily win in a fight against a rhino. As triceratops was easily double the size of a rhino, they could flip the rhino over and gore its underneath.

If the rhino and triceratops were to lock horns, the triceratops wouldn’t even budge as the rhino would not have the strength to move the triceratops.

The best bet for the rhino to survive would be to run away with its tail between its legs.
